Did the ancient greeks climb olympos. Olympus with Pegasus.

Did the ancient greeks climb olympos. Was it considered taboo to do so? Are there any accounts of people who have tried? The Ancient Greek pantheon were known to live atop Mount Olympus where they'd sit around and mess with mortals (except Hades, he was cool). To be clear, this is before modern climbing equipment. Plutarch (2nd century) and St Augustine (4th-5th century) report on annual pilgrimages up the mountain. Sep 25, 2025 ยท In Greek mythology, Mount Olympus was regarded as the abode of the gods and the site of the throne of Zeus. So I was just wondering if any ancient Greek (and by ancient Greek I'm thinking about Greek people before they converted to Christianity) actually attempted to climb the mountain. At nearly 10,000 feet (3,000 m), Olympus is the tallest mountain in Greece. However, the myth with Bellerophon and Pegasus going to Olympus was probably based on some dude who tried, (and possibly failed) to climb up. And unless they've since moved on, they did no find the Gods up there. I find it hard to believe that people in Ancient Greece never attempted to climb it. I've heard that Mount Olympus is somewhat difficult to climb, but not exceptionally challenging. eoh qpg tba05e vdvygb 8iu oxk9mn mrxptjb 9h9uo to2l aez5j
